Down, Set, Omaha, Omaha, Execute!

Super Bowl 53 is right around the corner, and I am excited because it is taking place in my current hometown, Atlanta, Georgia. With over 100,000 people expected to invade the city for a week, I wanted to provide a few tips to keep in mind if you will be executing any events as an Experiential Marketing Professional (EXP).

Safety

If you will be using or working as a driver for a ride-sharing app such as Uber or Lyft or staying in any Airbnbs or hotels, it is important to be mindful of your safety.

A few tips to remember include:

  • Note any important landmarks in the area
  • Have the location of a rental property or destination mapped out prior to your arrival
  • Conduct research prior to booking a hotel or home rental
  • Be mindful of your surroundings
  • Always travel with one or more persons
  • Communicate any issues with passengers and end a ride if you feel uncomfortable
  • Be aware of an individual’s body language and temperament

Transportation and Parking

Super Bowl Mercedes StadiumPay attention to road closures, and use public transportation or e-scooters. The city of Atlanta has already begun preparing for Super Bowl 53, and in an effort to assist people getting to all of the festivities taking place, they have made sure that taking the Marta train, Atlanta streetcar, or e-scooters are options. Many staffing agencies have decided to not cover any parking expenses, as many of the parking lots in downtown Atlanta have been purchased by the NFL or its affiliates and will be reserved. Parking is expected to be a minimum of $50.00 and may include walking. Plan accordingly.

Prepare for All Weather Changes and Updates

Atlanta is known for its bipolar weather and the ability to experience all four seasons in one day. During this month, rain and sleet are also the norm. Therefore, come prepared and pack clothing for all instances.

Plan for the Unexpected

Traffic is already bad in Atlanta, and with the influx of people, traffic will be extremely heavy. So plan for the unexpected on your commute. Road closures will be in effect at least a week prior to the event on many streets surrounding the Mercedes-Benz Dome, and there will be designated ride sharing pick-up and drop-off points, which may be a good walk away from any fan zones.

Have Fun in Moderation

Enjoy executing your events and other festivities, but remember to be responsible. Be accountable for your position and remember to always be mindful of your event times, locations, and expectations.

The Super Bowl is always a great event because it not only involves sports and celebrities, but it brings together EXPs from around the country, providing the opportunity to network, engage with consumers, and execute fun, innovative Experiential Marketing events. Use common sense and be sure to trust your gut. If a situation does not seem to be headed in the right direction, take heed and leave.

Enjoy Atlanta and remember you are a brand within a brand, so represent yourself accordingly!
